The Union Cabinet has approved the extension of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme for another five years with an allocation of Rs 3,15,614 crore. Launched in 2019, the initiative provides eligible farming families with Rs 6,000 annually in three equal installments directly into their bank accounts.
In a broader move, the Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a total outlay of Rs 4,41,209 crore for various development projects. This includes Rs 5,070 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and Rs 36,441 crore for the Khelo India and National Sports Federation programs.
Additionally, the government has allocated Rs 84,084 crore for the Samudrayaan mission to explore deep-sea oil and natural gas resources. This funding is intended to bolster energy security by supporting deep-sea drilling operations and the development of necessary maritime infrastructure.
