President Donald Trump has declared that the United States will respond forcefully to Iran following surprise attacks on American assets in the region. In a phone interview with Fox News, Trump described the strike on US forces in Jordan as a surprise attack that left troops with only minutes to intercept incoming missiles.
Trump characterized pro-Iranian militia groups in Iraq as a "cancer on the world" and confirmed that recent US-Saudi strikes against these groups were coordinated with the Iraqi government. Despite the heightened tensions, the President stated that he intends to allow his negotiators to continue discussions with Iran.
Regarding his recent meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump noted that the discussion went well. He added that the Israeli leader now understands the situation, though he provided no further details on those remarks.
