Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said India’s digital public infrastructure has become a global model, speaking at the two-day National Finance Entrepreneurs summit of Young Indians in Madurai. The event, titled “Entrepreneurship Beyond Borders,” was chaired by Young Indians national president Arun Rathod.
Sitharaman cited over 20 billion monthly transactions on the UPI platform and the presence of 2,100 global capability centres in India as indicators of the country’s digital progress. She said India is growing rapidly despite challenges such as the Russia–Ukraine war, Israel–Iran tensions and supply-chain pressures, and noted the government’s ongoing support for micro, small and medium enterprises through an emergency credit guarantee scheme. Sitharaman also announced plans to begin exporting traditional rice varieties and to launch a company in Virudhunagar to take roasted chilli trade to global markets. Young Indians said more than 600 members, entrepreneurs, investors and industry experts from 71 chapters attended the summit.
